HIPAA Compliance
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) sets the standard for sensitive patient data protection. Companies that deal with protected health information (PHI) must have physical, network, and process security measures in place and follow them to ensure HIPAA Compliance. HIPAA is important because it ensures healthcare providers, health plans, healthcare clearinghouses, and business associates of HIPAA-covered entities must implement multiple safeguards to protect sensitive personal and health information.
The Healthcare is a diverse market with several components. A patient’s and / or an individual’s private data and information can easily be exposed and violated when not properly handled. In today’s digital age, certain safeguards must be in place to appropriately protect electronic health information.
There is a growing use of credit card for medical related transactions and other payments in the health industry and it has prompted the growing concern for Payment Card Industry (PCI) to focus attention on many health organizations.
Compliance with HITRUST, HIPAA and PCI are very important. However, UEI Technology understands that there is more to gain for healthcare organizations through compliance process than simply checking the box. Simply checking the box and investing in rewords and incentives (R&I) or engaging with initiatives is not enough if those efforts are not effectively and cost efficiently driven to produce results. This is when UEI Technology comes in to help.
While both primary healthcare providers and related third parties remain a central focus for UEI Technology, we have built and enhanced our expertise to serve our clients in the healthcare industry and have continued to maintain a leading role in providing security and compliance services to benefit them.
